Williams, Sr., a native and resident of Houma, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2015 at the age of 86 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 8:30AM until 12:00PM at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 12:00PM at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Burial will follow at St. Francis No. 2 Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie Waguespack Williams of Assumption Parish and seven children all of Houma: Randy Williams and spouse, Linda Wilson Williams; Martha Ann Williams Pittman; Charlette Ann Williams Black and spouse, Mart Black; Joann Williams; Earl J. Williams, Jr.; Van Williams; and Ann Mary Williams Hebert and spouse, Kim E. Hebert, and very dear family friend, Eulice Sparks. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kelly Williams Gavin of West Chester, PA; Randi Lynn Williams of Atlanta, GA; Chris Pittman of Atlanta, GA; Ryan Pittman of Tomball, TX; Anne-Marie Black of New Orleans, LA; Martha Elizabeth Black of Houma; William E. Hebert, currently stationed at Ft. Polk, LA; and Andre P. Hebert of Houma. He is also survived by six great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank H. Williams, Sr. and Mary Bergeron Williams and his older brother, Frank Williams, Jr. Mr. Williams opened a clothing store on Main Street in Downtown Houma in 1947 and through his doors walked many present and past residents of Houma and the surrounding area. Most of his customers became lifelong friends. The store still bears his name and, after his retirement, Mr. Williams turned over its operation to three of his daughters and one son. During his life, Mr. Williams worked tirelessly to support his Church and Vandebilt Catholic High School and was a charter member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Houma. In retirement he worked at the St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy distributing needed medications to the less fortunate. Throughout Houma and most of Terrebonne Parish he was affectionately known simply as, "Mr. Earl." His family wishes to thank Frs. Simon Peter and Josh Rodrigue of St. Francis de Sales Church for their prayers and kind words of consolation offered bedside. The family also wishes to thank the dedicated people of Terrebonne General Medical Center and Haydel Hospice for their kind and professional services.
