Murphy "Papa Smurf" Banks Jr., 54, a native of Lafourche Parish and resident of 
Morgan City, died at 11:53 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Saturday, May 16, at New 
Mount Esther Baptist Church in Morgan City (Siracusa). Funeral services will be 
at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, 

with burial in the St. Mark Cemetery in Labadieville. 

He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Neddie Banks; sons, Gerald Neddie Jr. 
(Jowanda) and Shaddrick Neddie; brother, Ellis Banks Jr. (Lacalle); sisters, 
Linda Joseph (Sidney), Martha Banks Kirk (Victor) and Clemetine Jones; nine 
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy and Bessie Mae Exnicious Banks 
Sr.; and brother, Jerome Banks. 

Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.
