Early "Jack" Hicks Horton, Jr., died peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. He 
was born on December 16, 1928 in Lewisville, Arkansas. 

He was a native of Patmos, Arkansas and resident of Galliano, Louisiana.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Our 
Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 
celebrated at 1:00 PM Friday 

with burial to follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church cemetery.

Jack is survived by his devoted daughters, Susan Horton David and Jackie Horton 
Ginter and her husband Earl of Athens, Georgia. He is also survived by his five 
beautiful grandsons, Davy David and wife Ashley of San Angelo, Texas, Travis 
David and wife Renee', Matthew Ginter and wife Jenn, Michael and Mark Ginter of 
Athens, Georgia, five great-grandchildren, Sarah, Luke, Eli, Owen and Gavin 
David, great –great grandchild, Marley Matherne; companion Elaine Soley; 
godchild, Rodney John Williams and many friends also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Elsie Cheramie Horton; his 
parents, Early and Fannie Laha Horton Sr., and his brother Bobby Horton of 
Patmos, Arkansas.

He retired from the oilfield in the early 60's, owned and operated Jack's Exxon 
in Galliano until 1976, and retired from the Lafourche Parish School Board in 
2000 as a Bus Driver.

He loved his family and friends. He enjoyed working on his farm especially with 
his cattle and riding his tractor. He was a hard worker, determined, strong-
willed and a good honest man. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Foundation, P.O. Box 2074, Thibodaux, LA 70301.
