Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until funeral time Friday, May 29, at First Baptist Church in Houma. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with graveside services Saturday, May 30, at Shady Grove Cemetery in Haynesville. He is survived by his daughters, Marr Shan and husband, Willard Cagle, Cidney and husband, Timmy Orodyne and Darcee and husband, Russell Bex; brother, Robert and wife, JoAnn Modisette; sister, Joan and husband, Ralph McGinnis; brother- in-law, Charles Wayne Crump and forever friend, Nancy Ellington; grandchildren, Drew and wife, Sharon Pope, Derrick and wife, Alesandra Pope, Blake and wife, Heather Ordoyne, Baylor Ordoyne, Dallas and wife, Hanna Cagle, Matthew and Megan Cagle, and Logan and Ryan Bex; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Samantha, Aaden, Aubrianna and Reagan Pope, and Brayden and Kenley Ordoyne. He was preceded in death by his spouse of 59 years, Frances Crump Modisette; and sister and brother-in-law, Earline Modisette Britnell and husband, Elton. James retired from Louisiana Land and Exploration Co. in 1987 and was a member and deacon at First Baptist church in Houma. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a skilled woodworker. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of Southern Care Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe.
