He was a native of Kenai, AK and resident of Lafayette, LA. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 10:00 until service time at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will be held in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2 He is survived by his wife, Tosha Rae LaFont; mother, Mary Jane LeCompte Spurgin; son, Jake David Spurgin; daughter, Maya Rae Spurgin; sisters, Lisa S. Vegas and husband, Luigi, and Cheryl S. Fondino and husband, Michael; nephews, Dante and Dominic Vegas; niece, Isabella Fondino. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Marmaduke Spurgin. David was the proud, loving father of two wonderful children whom he characterized as the absolute inspiration in his life. He had a special bond with each of them and encouraged them to develop their passion for music and art, natural gifts they received from their dad. David proudly and lovingly shared these gifts with his nephews as well. He had a magnetic personality and contagious smile that naturally attracted people to him. David intrigued so many with his quick wit and sense of humor, intelligence, and innovative, sometimes unconventional, way of thinking and seeing the world. David's zest for life was revealed through his love of music, movies, literature, and world travel. He was well respected in his professional life as he formed meaningful relationships with colleagues throughout his career. David's leadership skills were enhanced by his organization, self-motivation, and perseverance. He put his heart and soul into each task that he endeavored to ensure that every job would be done right. David's generosity touched the lives of so many. His generous spirit will live on in perpetuity by the way he inspired his family and friends ======================
