Estelle Newman Veal, 82, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, 
died Sunday, May 31, 2015. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Thursday, June 4, at New 
Mount Zion Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the 
church, 

with burial in Southdown Cemetery. 

She is survived by her nephews, John Charles Davis and Frank (Stephanie) Davis, 
of Dayton, Ohio; niece, Lamar "Brittany" Payton, of Dayton, Ohio; and devoted 
godchild, Paulette (Leonard) Celestine, of Houma. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duncan Veal; parents, John and 
Melvina Newman; brothers, John Booker, Sylvester and William Newman; and 
sister, Emma Elizabeth Newman Reid. 

Estelle was an usher at New Mount Zion Baptist Church. 

Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
