Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma and from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time Monday, June 15, at St. Eloi Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his son, Keith Michael Poiencot and wife, Sherilyn, Brian Anthony Poiencot and wife, Annette, and Malcolm “Andy” Andrew Poiencot and wife, Dana; daughters, Lizbeth P. McElroy and husband, John “Burt,” and Donna P. Blanchard and husband, Robert; brothers, Russell Poiencot and wife, Vita, and Aloysius “Al” Poiencot and wife, Betty; sister-in-law, Maxine F. Poiencot; grandchildren, Michelle P. Harker, Charmaine B. Bergeron, Lori P. Bijeaux, Jill M. Friedman, Summer M. Ferreira, Toni P. Bourg, Robbie J. Blanchard, Jamie P. Dugas, Ashley P. Shelly, Beaux A. Poiencot, Hunter A. Poiencot and Dyland M. Poiencot; great-grandchildren, Jordan Lane Boudreaux, Courtney Renee’ Bergeron, Camryn Renee’ Bergeron, Landon M. Bijeaux, Hayden Dugas, Foster Dugas, Liza Renee’ Friedman, Adison G. Bourg, Owen C. Bourg and Bennett J. Shelly, Morgan Boudreaux; step-great-grandchildren, Dylan Michael Ferreira, Lindsey Renee’ Ferreira, Angela Harker, Stephen Harker and Kaylin Harker; and great-great- grandchildren, Cullen W. Blanchard, Maverick K. Boudreaux and Sophia Harker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Guidry Poiencot; parents, Enos Joseph and Celine Marguerite Guidry Poiencot; brother, Burtman A. Poiencot; and sisters, Nell P. Bienvenu and husband, Ed, and Joyce Dietrich and husband, Ban. Malcolm was a parishioner of St. Eloi Catholic Church. He loved raising cattle and was an original founding member of the Dularge Fire Department. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 8779 and a member of Masonic Unity Lodge No. 267 F&AM. He was also the former proprietor of Mac’s Tackle Shack. Malcolm was well-known, generous and caring. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed but never forgotten.
