Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2015/f1507.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Robert John Elliott, 60, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center Lafayette, after a struggle with cancer at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Friday, July 24, at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in Holy Savior Catholic Church cemetery in Lockport. The Very Rev. Robert C. Rogers, VF, Pastor of St. Louis Catholic Church in Houma, will officiate. Robert is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Michael McDonald of Carencro; mother, Theresa Nina Toups Elliott, of Lockport; sisters, Theresa "Tessy" Marie Elliott, of Laurel, Mississippi, and Rebecca "Becky" Ann Elliott Simon and husband, Richard, of Carrier, Mississippi; brothers, Dr. Melvin Paul Elliott Jr. and wife, Myra, of Matthews, and Edward James Elliott and wife, Tish, of Missouri; cousin, Kathleen Crago and husband, Jeri, of Metairie; godmother, Annie Morillion and husband, Willie, of Katie, Texas; friends, Louis Daigle, of Lafayette, Steven Dilday, of Lafayette, and Patrick Rauche, of Carencro; and numerous dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Paul Elliott Sr. Robert was born in Raceland and grew up in Lockport. He attended Holy Savior Central and Central Lafourche High School, where he graduated in 1974. Robert attained his Bachelor's Degree in History and Pre-Law, graduating in 1978. He later attended Loyola Law School in New Orleans, where he attained his Juris Doctorate. After several years in private practice, Robert went to work for the Department of Social Services for Children's Advocacy, in the legal area of Child Protection. He was a zealous advocate of protecting children in the legal systems when they were abused, neglected, or mistreated. The family wishes to thank his niece, Dr. Amy Crago, of Manhattan, New York, Dr. Lauren Byers, the doctors of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and the entire staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette for the care given to Robert during these difficult times. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Fountain Memorial Funeral Home and the members of Holy Savior Catholic Church for the work done for the family.
