Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday, Aug. 26, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery II. He is survived by his spouse, Antoinette Faucheaux Pitre; sons, Jerry J. Pitre, Leo A. Pitre and Greg Pitre and wife, Gypsy; brothers, Charles J. Pitre Sr. and Junius J. Pitre Jr.; sisters, Mary Ann Pitre Blanchard and Carolyn Crochet Liner; and grandchildren, Jade E. Pitre and fiancee, Kalep Q. Rogers, Jerry J. Pitre Jr., Quinn M. Pitre, Bre A. Pitre, Andrew H. Pitre and Alexandra E. Pitre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Junius Joseph Pitre Sr. and Velma Bergeron Pitre; stepfather, Carroll Crochet; and grandson, Harrison Thomas Pitre. Gerald was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, golfing and playing pool. He enjoyed vacationing with the entire family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Haydel Memorial Hospice and his buddy, Nathanial, for their love and care during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to The Foundation for TGMC earmarked for the local Parkinson's Support Group.
