David Brown, 79, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma, passed 
away peacefully at 8:03 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at AMG Specialty 
Hospital.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. followed by a "Celebration of Life" program 
at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the church. Visitation will resume 
at 9:00 a.m. until funeral time. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, 
October 3, 2015 at New St. Matthews Baptist Church located at 3966 Highway 311 
in Houma, LA 70360 with Pastor Vincent Fusilier, Sr. officiating. 

Burial will follow in Crescent Farm Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Margaret Johnson Brown; sons, Andrew 
Matthews and Byron Jermaine Brown, Sr.; daughters, Joan Marie Staidum, Jean 
Marie Brown and Deirdre (Troy) James; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandson; 
one brother, Willie (Ann) Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, David Brown, Jr.; parents, James and 
Beulah Durkins-Brown; brothers, Clarence and Joseph Brown; sisters, Vivian 
Ethel Myles, Daisy B. Short, Macedonia Brown and Willie Mae Harvey; 
grandparents, James and Martha Brown; and in-laws, Earl, Sr. and Zenobia 
Johnson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home of Houma.
