"Jake" Matherne, 85, a native of Raceland and resident of St. Charles Community, passed away at his home, Sunday, September 6, 2015. Visitation will be from 8:00 am until service time with a Memorial Mass starting at 10:30 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on Thursday, September 10 with burial to follow St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church cemetery. J.C. is survived by his children; Steve "Zeke" Matherne (Kay), Mark "Square" Matherne (Donna), Michelle Matherne (Kim), Angelle M. Blanchard (Michael); grandson, Jake Matherne (companion Jeanette Hymel); brothers, Kirlin "Nookie", Clarence "Buck" Jr., Francis "Poonie" and Robert "Bobby" Matherne; sisters, Verna "Noonie" Theriot and Bernice "Bea" Falgout. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mable Pertuit Matherne; parents, Clarence "Cayenne" Sr. and Cecile Matherne; brothers, Willie "Billy" and Jerry "Pee Wee" Matherne.
