Simoneaux, 93, a native of Plattenville, LA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2015 surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Landry’s Funeral Home in Napoleonville, LA from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Church in Plattenville, LA from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am at the church followed by interment in Assumption Catholic Church cemetery in Plattenville. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Opal Kern Simoneaux; sons, Terry Paul Simoneaux and wife Sonya, Bobby Simoneaux and wife Sherryl, Rodney Simoneaux and wife Michele; son-in-law, Doug Brown; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph Simoneaux Sr. and Claire Prejean Simoneaux; son, Jeffrey Simoneaux; daughter, Susan Simoneaux Brown; and brother, Rudolph “Ham” Simoneaux, Jr. He was a graduate of Belle Rose High School and Baton Rouge Business College. A veteran of the Army Air Corps, during World War II, he served with the 458 Bomb Group as an aerial engineer / top turret gunner flying 36 successful missions. He began sugar cane faming in 1947 and continued to work until he was 90 years of age. He was an Assumption Parish Farm Bureau Board Member serving as President for many years. He was instrumental in organizing the first annual Assumption Parish Sugar Cane Field Day. After 30 years of serving as Chairman, U.B. was the first recipient of an award named in his honor, the U.B. Simoneaux Service to Agriculture Award. He was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and an active member for 70 years. He was a member of the American Legion and an avid LSU fan. He also served many years doing community and church volunteer work and sang in the Assumption church choir. Special thanks to Barbara Brown and Angela LeBouef for the care given to U.B. in his last days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Church of the Assumption.
