Roland Joseph Toups, age 79, died on September 2, 2015. 
He was a native of Raceland and a longtime resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 5th at St. Joseph Co-
Cathedral in Thibodaux. Visitation will be from 9am to 11am, a rosary will be 
prayed at 10am, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, 

followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Peggy Ordoyne Toups, and three 
daughters, Anne Toups Duke and husband, Stuart, Julie Toups Adolph and husband, 
Gene, and Jennifer Toups. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Regan 
Adolph, Spencer Adolph, Wesley Adolph, William Duke, and Zachary Duke, and his 
sisters, Audrey Lee Boudreaux and husband, Lovell, and Ruby Price and husband, 
Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Joseph Toups and Verna 
Foret Toups.

Roland was a devout Catholic and enjoyed participating in numerous ministries 
at St. Joseph such as St. Vincent DePaul and Jacob’s Ladder. He retired from 
the Lafourche Parish School Board after many years of service as a teacher and 
principal.

Special thanks to Dr. James Ellis and the nurses and staff of St. Joseph 
Hospice. In lieu of flowers, masses preferred or donations may be made to St. 
Joseph Abbey (75376 River Rd, St Benedict, LA 70457) or St. Joseph Hospice (103 
Ridgefield Rd, Thibodaux, LA).
