Bertie Cortez Brunet, 88, passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 at her residence in 
Foxworth, Mississippi. 

Survivors include one daughter, Yvette Brunet Bobb; one son, Kenneth Brunet and 
his wife, Claire; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Brunet; her grandchildren, 
Kristen Picard, James Brunet, Bridget Brunet Martinez and her husband, Kenny, 
Kirk Bobb and his wife, Jennifer, and Emily Brunet Gartman and her husband, 
Chris, Keeler Brunet, and Emile Brunet; her great grandchildren, Jade Brunet, 
Taylor Bobb, Brooke Martinez, Alexis Brunet, Kolston Martinez, Hadley Brunet 
and Preslea Bobb; one brother, Mariano J. "Minet" Cortez, Jr. and his wife, 
Irene; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Joseph Brunet, Sr.; one son, 
Russell Joseph "Butch" Brunet, Jr.; and her parents, Mariano J. Cortez, Sr. and 
Clara Champagne Cortez. 

Bertie was born Aug. 24, 1927 in New Orleans and was raised in Theriot. She 
then moved to Gretna and resided there for over fifty years and most recently 
resided in Foxworth, MS for the past eight years. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Liturgy of 
the Word Service at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Theriot. 

Interment will be held in St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery. 
Deacon Glenn Porche will officiate at the services. 

The family requests visiting hours be observed Friday, Oct. 23, 2015 at St. 
Eloi Catholic Church, 1335 Bayou de Large Rd. Theriot, LA 70397, from 9:30 a.m. 
until service time. 

Melancon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
