He was a native of Houma, LA and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 9:00am to service time at Holy Family Catholic Church in Dulac, LA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 11:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Dulac, LA. Burial: Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years; Betty Lirette Collins, daughters, Jeanine Collins, Catherine Collins Ohda and husband Clay Ohda, brother, Bernard Collins and wife Betty Voisin Collins, sisters, Phyllis Collins Duplantis and husband Glynn Duplantis, Marilyn Collins Benoit and husband Melvin Benoit Jr., grandchildren, Jessica Collins and husband Juan Barrios, Christy Ohda, Cassie Ohda, Erica Lynn Collins, step-grandchildren, Vilma , Lesly, and Blanca Barrios, and great grandchildren: Diego, Rolando, and Gabriela Barrios. He was preceded in death by his parents: James Collins Sr. and Irene Fanguy Collins, and brother, Lawrence Larry Collins. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. James was a Councilman for the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government for the last 15 member council for District #7 from 1993 to 1995. He was a Grand Knight -Our Lady of Good Voyage #7722, and a Sir Knight past Faithful Navigator Assembly #2215 for the Knights of Columbus. James was on the Finance Committee and a Chairman in the building of the "Grotto" at Holy Family Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
