Visitation will be held from 8:30 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Thibodaux Funeral Home of Thibodaux, LA followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Geraldine Percle Shewmaker; son, Clifton Shewmaker Jr. and wife Nadine; daughter, Ginger Shewmaker Thomas and husband Ronnie; brother, Joe Roark; sisters, Judy Servoss, Suzanne Byers; grandchildren, Andy Andras, BreAnna Thomas, Dallas Thomas, Britney Landry, Desiree Shewmaker; great-grandchildren, Kayden Andras, Ryder Andras. He is preceded in death by parents, George Shewmaker and Ruth Knox Shewmaker; daughter, Bernadine Shewmaker; brother, Billy Shewmaker; sister, Georgia Adams. Pallbearers are Dallas Thomas, Andy Andras, Allie Waguespack, Steven Waguespack, Joe Roark, and Chuck Adams. Clifton is a veteran of the United States Navy, a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, and a member of the VFW Post 5097. He served on the USS Kearsarge (CSV-33), on which he participated in the recovery of Walter M. Schirra Jr. took place on October 3, 1963 after 6 orbits in outer space. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, coffee buddy, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
