He was a native of Houma. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home Inc. in Houma and on Saturday, October 31, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Thibodaux located at 720 Talbot Avenue. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30am at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Thibodaux. A celebration of Jim’s life will take place following Friday night visitation at the camp in Dulac (4448 Grand Caillou Road, Houma). He is survived by Sheri and his children, James Tyler and Sydney, his father, James Millard Sothern, his sisters, Rachael Barrios and husband Robert, Melinda Sothern and husband, Dave Hebert, Wilma Sothern and husband Scott Almendarez, and Julie Sothern and husband Luc DeCrauzat, nieces and nephews Nikki Maronge, April McElroy Jones, Bobby Barrios, Samantha Pearce, T.J. McElroy, Allyson Nobles, Billy Theriot, Louis and Elliot DeCrauzat, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeraldine Guidry Sothern, sister, Rebecca Sothern McElroy and his grandparents, Robley “P.K.” and Edith Guidry, and James O’Brien and Violet Sothern. Jim cooked with love and provided food for our souls. He spun music he liked for the people he loved. And most importantly he filled our hearts with love and laughter, just by being Sud! ======================
