Visitation will be on Friday, November 27, 2015 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Schriever, LA from 10am - 11am. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am on Friday, November 27, 2015 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Schriever, LA. Burial will be in St. Bridget Cemetery, Schriever, LA. He was married to Ella Mae Baudoin Bernard for 75 years until she passed away six months ago. Mr. Bernard was the owner of Bernard's Cane Syrup in Gray for 25 years then became a carpenter and a licensed plumber and electrician, working tirelessly until the age of 90. He was awarded the Louisiana Governor's Older Worker of The Year in 1997, was the Houma Courier Personality of the Week and featured in the Houma Bicentennial Good Earth cookbook. He is survived by daughters, Kathryn Champagne (Gene), Carolyn Brown (Lacy), Elaine Benoit; son, Leonard Bernard, Jr. (Connie); 11 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great- grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Baudoin Bernard; parents, Valcour and Elvine Leonard Bernard; son, Allen Bernard; brothers, Alder, Lawrence and Weldon Bernard; sisters, Lucille and Ivy Mae Bernard and Mildred Lyons; and grandchildren, Brian Champagne, Naomi Champagne and Aimee' Benoit.
