A private burial service will be held at a later date. He is survived by his mother, Peggy Chauvin Duplantis; three sisters, Donette D. Thibodeaux, Marcia D. Brunet Garibotte, and Rena D. Huddleston; three brothers, Ira J. Duplantis Jr., Yancey P. Duplantis, and Tyler J. Duplantis; along with numerous brother in laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Ira J. Duplantis Sr. Woody will be remembered for his love of nature and his talent in painting scenes of bayou landscapes including fishing camps and moss laden cypress swamps. He loved researching and writing on topics of ecology and aquatics and the study of animals, birds and fish in which he wrote and kept hundreds of journals. He was of Christian faith. He was a disabled veteran and served in the United States Marine Corps. In lieu of flowers, take the time to remember and to perform a sincere act of compassion and kindness to a disabled veteran. Take the time to purchase a bag of bird feed and spread it out to feed the many different species that he so enjoyed feeding, watching and studying. The next time you are on the water fishing, trawling, etc. take the time to spread pieces of bread as he did so many times in his boat living on the bayou to feed the fish that he also enjoyed studying. Honor him in these ways and it is something that he truly would have appreciated. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. US Marines ======================
