She was born to the union of Thomas Matthews, Jr., and Carolyn Adams Matthews on April 22, 1978 in Thibodaux, Louisiana. She graduated from H. L. Bourgeois High School in Gray, LA in 1996. She completed her medical certification at Blue Cliff College August 26, 2015. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Ulysses H. Thomas, Sr. at New Magnolia Baptist Church. Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her; rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn her: Isaiah 66:10 She will have visitation at Community Funeral Home 230 S. Hollywood Rd. Houma, LA 70360 on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 1-4:00p.m. Her home going service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Community Funeral Home. Visitation from 8:00a.m. until funeral time at 11:00a.m. Rev. Irving Brown will officiate her service. Interment at Halfway Cemetery. She is survived by three children: Xavier Matthews, Xion and Xaria Stoves; her parents: Thomas Matthews, Jr.(Tricia) of Houma and Carolyn Matthews Simmons(Joseph) of Gray. Two brothers, Corey Matthews of Atlanta, GA and Christian Matthews (Yekema) of Schriever, LA. Aunts and uncles John Adams, Jr.(Viola), Charles Adams (Linda), Elitha Growe, Alma Dark (John), Darlene Allen (Alex), Damaris Hayes, Avis Bartholomew (Nathan), Arleen Colon, Emma Newton (Tom), Ella Mae Thompson (Earl), Pastor Larry Matthews, Joella Washington, god-daughter, Kristian Matthews and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Marcus Stoves, Jr., her maternal grandparents, John Adams, Sr., and Daisy Brown Adams and her paternal granparents, Thomas Matthews, Sr., and Emma B. Matthews. ======================
