Earnest "Pops" Bernard Sims, 38, a native and resident of Houma, passed away at 
12:17 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015. 

Viewing will be conducted from 8 a.m. until funeral time at 11 a.m. on 
Saturday, Nov. 21 at Beacon Light Baptist Church. 

Burial will follow in Southdown Cemetery. 

He is survived by his wife, Ashley Nells Sims; daughter, Elise Symone Sims; 
parents, Catherine Sims and Ernest Davis; grandmother, Doretha Sims; father-in-
law, Thomas Johnson, Sr.; sisters, Tiese Sims and April Turner (Corey); 
stepsister, Tawanda Vincent; godmother, Cloteal Williams; godchildren, Kavon 
Miller, Jaxon and Averie Trahan; nephews, Anthony Mitchell, Jr., Chaise Turner 
and Cohen Sims; and niece, Zoe Turner. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Mitchell, Sr.; grandparents, 
Stanley and Mary Davis; mother-in-law, Lolita Marie Johnson; and godfather, 
Leonard Williams, Sr. 

Jones Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of arrangements
