Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2015/f1512.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Ann Vickers Hebert Howell 1945- 2015, age 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 22, 2015. Ann was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana to Janie Vickers and Bienvenu Claude Hebert. Ann is survived by her beloved husband, Roe, and her devoted children Dr. JJ Spedale (Gerry) and US Navy Captain M. Martin Howell II (Tracy). She was "Mimi" to her much loved grandchildren Michael Howell, Janie Frances, and Claire Anne Spedale and John Brian and Sienna Grace Howell. She was a graduate of Thibodaux High School, and she attended LSU, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.A. in education. Ann fought a determined and heroic battle against Multiple Sclerosis for 40 years. Although challenged by this disabling disease, she had many accomplishments, including Outstanding Young Woman of Thibodaux in 1978, founding president and charter member of Thibodaux Service League, board member, secretary and president of Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce, board member of Louisiana Nursing Home Association and Louisiana Association for Homes for the Aged, Fellow to the Louisiana Nursing Home Association, and board member to Lafourche Parish Water District No. 1. Ann served on the Louisiana Multiple Sclerosis advisory board for 10+ years, was an integral participant and organizer of multiple fundraisers, and organized and supported more than one MS support group. In 1980, Ann was selected M.S. National Mother of the Year and was presented the award by President Jimmy Carter at the White House. Ann retired after 38 years as administrator for Lafourche Home for the Aged. Ann enjoyed her life, especially gardening with her husband, Roe, and culturing award winning hibiscus flowers. She was an example of a true strong Southern Lady to her family and many lifelong friends. Visitation at St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral 721 Canal Blvd. Thibodaux, LA on Monday December 28, from 9 am – 12 noon. Mass follows. In memory of Ann, please wear a festive color or a festive accent to your attire.
