Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma. A service will follow at 11 a.m. with a military burial at New Hope Mausoleum. He is survived by his son, James Taylor and wife Brenda; grandduagher, Claudia Ryder and husband Mike; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Griffin Ryder; brother Robert Bonnette and wife Barbara. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Taylor; daughter, Karen Taylor; parents, Oscar Taylor, Eva Taylor Bonnette and step-father Ettie Bonnette; siblings, James Taylor, Freddie Breaux and Daisy Lee Savona. Mr. Taylor was born November 11, 1920 in Simmesport. He was a member of the Christ Baptis Church. He was a 23 years Navy Veteran and served in WWII and the Korean War. He was honored to serve on the USS Williamsburg, the Presidential Yacht of Harry S. Truman. He was very active in his church. He enjoyed visiting local nursing homes to pray and give devotions with the residents. The family would like to thank the staff of Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home of Reserve for the dedicated, loving care given to Mecklen "Moe" Taylor.
