Merle Bowers Benoit, 83, a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Choctaw, 
LA, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2015 at Thibodaux Funeral Home 
from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Religious services will begin at 1:00 pm at the 
funeral home. 

Burial will be held at a later date at St. James Cemetery in Choctaw, LA.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Guy Benoit; children, Debra Henderson 
and husband Dennis Sr, Glenn Thomassie Sr. and wife Dora, Leona Adams and 
husband Mitchell Sr., Cindy Giluso and husband Thomas Jr.; brothers, Brent 
Bowers, Gerry Drinkwater; sisters, Shirley Sanders, Nora Romano, June Lowery, 
Dorcas “Dee” Childress; stepsons, Michael Benoit, Paul Benoit; 11 
grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and numerous 
step-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen Bowers and Eula Savoie Bowers; 
brothers, Freddy Bowers, Kerry Bowers, Stanley Bowers, Larry Bowers, Allen 
Bowers; sisters, Edna Collinsworth, Grace Bowers; grandchild, Denise Henderson.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Arrangements entrusted to Thibodaux Funeral Home.
