Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2016/f1601.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Barbara Antill Guidry, 92, born in Preston, Cuba, Oriente Province, and a resident of Gibson and Houma, died on January 2, 2016. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, at 10:00 a.m. at the church with burial to follow in St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery. She is survived by her children, Paula Collins, Vanessa Whipple and husband Keith, Karen Guidry, Dorothy Grace and Arthur Gouner, Jr. and wife Dee; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, with one on the way; two sisters, Lucille Craigue and Margaret Dupre; three brothers, Monroe Antill, Barry Antill and Nelson Antill; sister-in-law, Wanda Antill, numerous nieces and nephews. great-nieces and great-nephews, and her beloved cat, Tiger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Norris Guidry; daughters, Barbara Stokes and Mary Brown; granddaughter, Dawn Usie’, parents, Dorothy and Earl Antill, Sr., brothers, MacLeon Antill, Leslie Antill, Earl Antill, Jr.; sisters Rena Jean Antill, Vivan Antill and Jenevieve “Jenny” Cantrelle. Barbara was an avid swimmer in her youth in Cuba. She was a champion bowler, a member of the Women’s Bowling Congress, bowled throughout LA and other states, won numerous awards and championships including a State championship. She was instrumental in starting the youth bowling league in Houma at the VFW and was a captain and mentor to many. She was a Girls’ Youth junior and senior Softball Coach for the then TPR Southdown Sugars and won several championships with her teams. She worked in the food service industry and was the manager and bookkeeper for over 25 years at Rosalie and Ray’s Steakhouse. She enjoyed fishing, boating, swimming, traveling, playing bridge, and reading. She was a longtime member and particpant of Maria Immacolata Church and was one of the first parishioners when the church parish was formed. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Abben, Dr. Craig Walker, Dr. Herminio Suazo, Dr. Bruce Guidry, St. Joseph Hospice, (nurses Dori, Donna and Deidre), The Medical Team (Nurses Debra and Cathy, Latosha), Mary Bird Perkins (Nurse Sonja) and the many third and fourth floor nurses at TGMC for their collaborative and excellent care, compassion and assistance during her illness.
