A funeral service will be held to commemorate her life spirit at 11 AM on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church and a wake at Chauvin Funeral Home on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 6PM to 8 PM and Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 9:00AM at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Francis No. 2 Cemetery. Born on August 13, 1958 in Shreveport, LA to Joseph and Vita Gregorio, Gina grew up in North Louisiana and lived there until she wed Dennis Mahaffey on November 29, 1980. They eventually moved down South to Houma, LA and have called it home for the past 20 years. The owner of a local cafe, 531 Liberty, she pursued her dream of cooking food for anyone wanting to slow down for a good meal. She lived with a compulsory kindness, drawing strength from nourishing others and giving her time and gifts to various charities, families, strangers and animals. Through her cafe, she and her family have made countless longtime friends that are considered family. Gina's family cannot express enough their gratitude and awe at the endless kindness and love that has come to them. They will continue to operate 531 Liberty instilled with her soul and strength. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Mahaffey, their daughters, Anna Mahaffey and Erica Mahaffey Lambert, son-in-law, Beau Lambert, two grandsons, Carson and Braylon Lambert; her mother, Vita Gregorio; mother-in-law, El Friede Mahaffey, brothers and sisters, Anthony and Marina Gregorio, Catherine Gregorio, Joseph Gregorio, Iris and Bobby Boone, Diana Chance, Eva and David Chappel, Danny and Sonja Mahaffey, aunt Lynn Mandina, dogs, Elvis and Napoleon, innumerable nieces, nephews, their children and so many friends. She is predeceased by her father, Joseph Gregorio, father-in-law, CD Mahaffey, grandmother Frances Mandina and brother-in-law, Wilton Chance. Honoring Gina as pallbearers are Anthony Gregorio, Bobby Boone, Joseph Gregorio, Dan Mahaffey, Paul Domangue and Charlie Teepell. Gina's family requests that any gifts or donations made in her memory be granted to the Haven, a local women and children's shelter . ======================
