He was born in Mobile, AL on Aug. 15, 1958 and lived in Houma, LA most of his life. A Memorial visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25 at First United Methodist Church, 6109 Hwy 311, Houma, La. Memorial Service will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, at the church. He is survived by his three sisters, Margie "Cookie" McCorkel, Mary "Ann" Trotter, and Maggie Galliano; one brother, Calvin McCorkel; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland W. McCorkel Sr. and Margie Stabler McCorkel; older brother, Cleveland W. McCorkel Jr.; and grandparents, James Wesley McCorkel and Maggie Lee Richardson McCorkel, William Madison Stabler and Annie Lizzie McKenzie Stabler. James "Bit" liked to go fishing and was an excellent cook. He will be missed by his family and his beloved pets "cat - Tom, alias Flash" and "dog - Annabelle, alias Taco."
