She is survived by her children; Leona (Jimmy) Cantrelle, Judy Babin, Marsha Arabie, Mary Babin and husband Greg and Martial J. (Sue) Babin, III. She is also survived by her grandchildren; James B. "Jim" Cantrelle, II and fiancé, Rachel, Jackie (Kent) Breaux, Thomas "Tom" H. Boyles, II, Jess W. (Becky) Boyles, Eric (Chermaine) Arabie, Paul (Peggy) Arabie, Babe Scott, Pat (Rachel) Scott, Teri Patton, Nicholas (Sara) Babin, Mae Hanino, Christina (Scott) Hebert, Billy Cockerham and Valerie Anne Babin. Additionally, she is survived by 28 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister Marguerite Babin; brother, Malcolm Guidry and many nieces and nephews and special friend, Joyce Zeringue. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mae and Edward J. Guidry, Sr.; sisters, Ella Mae Lorraine, Clarice Baudoin and Rosemary Foret; brother, Edward Guidry, Jr.; son-in-law, Robert Arabie, great grandson, James B. "T.J." Cantrelle, III and former husband, Martial J. Babin, II. During her younger years, Hazel did all those things a stay-at-home mom gets to do. She took great interest in her children's school activities, volunteering for many school functions and fund-raisers. An excellent cook, she was known not only for her delicious meals, but also for her peanut butter and chocolate fudge, pralines and apple sauce cakes. Later, after her five children were grown, Hazel worked in the Dietary Department at St. Anne General Hospital. She also worked as a bookkeeper and all-around-girl Friday for her daughter, Leona. Hazel enjoyed working with arts and crafts, bowling, attending activities at the senior citizens' home and trying her luck at the casino. She was especially proud of her volunteer services as a member of the St. Anne General Hospital Auxiliary or "Pink Ladies", serving as part of the Thursday crew for many years. During her tenure as a "Pink Lady". Hazel spearheaded a program to collect wigs for cancer patients. Hospital employees from all departments visited the information desk on Thursdays to tell "Miss Hazel" hello. She liked to joke, to talk to people, and to have fun. Hazel, a loving grandmother, was an integral part of the grandchildren's lives, especially the older ones. If they ever found themselves in a jam, as Tom and Jim often did, Gram was the one they called to get them out. And she would. Despite her long and difficult struggle with dementia, part of Hazel's indomitable spirit remained unscathed. Even in her last days, she would open her eyes to smile or to wiggle her nose. Hazel will be missed by all who knew her. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on through her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and everyone else who called and knew her as "Gram". Special thanks to Mom's devoted caregivers throughout the years: Becky Maronge, Mary Dominique and Linda Lirette. Thanks also to Mimi Hebert and Jennifer with Southern Care Hospice. Falgout Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements. ======================
