Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2016/f1602.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== (Bertha) Joan Guidry Babin, 79, a native of Houma, LA and former resident of Sherman, TX passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in New Braunfels, TX. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Monday, February 15th at Dannel Funeral Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 16th at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will follow immediately afterward, next to her husband in St. Mary's cemetery. Joan graduated from St. Frances Catholic School in Houma, LA. She was a homemaker and taught for a short time at Holy Rosary Catholic School. Joan followed her husband to Sherman, TX in 1971. She spent several years working at Lilley's Department Store in Sherman. In 1998, she moved back to Houma, LA to care for her ailing mother, who suffered with Alzheimer's Disease. In 2013, she moved back to TX. She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel J. Babin, parents Edmar and Winona Dazee Guidry in addition to her only sibling, Jackie Crochet. She is survived by her children Monica Muil (Charles), Tanya Caldwell (Chuck), Mark Babin (Regi) and Sr. Chief Eric J. Babin (Gina). Grandchildren are Cary Babin, Rebecca Robinson, Brian Caldwell, Julie Thiele, Cody Babin, Crystal Beltran, Laura Caldwell and Caroline Craven. Great grandchildren are Chance Montgomery, Cooper Babin, Connor Caldwell and Catherine Switzer. Pallbearers will be Charles Muil, Chuck Caldwell, Cary Babin, James Wellbrock and Phil Shackleton.
