She was a native of Donner, LA and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 8:30 AM until funeral time at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 10:00AM at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral with burial to follow at Terrebonne Memorial Park. She is survived by her sons, Glenn Patrick Matherne and wife, Merril, and Eric Anthony Matherne and wife, Jacque; daughter, Diane Matherne Barnhill and husband, Wilfred; grandchildren, Brian Barnhill, Daniel Matherne, Kimberly B. Robichaux and Michelle M. Richoux; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 72 years, Joseph Harold Matherne; parents, Clarence Joseph Sr and Agnes Louviere Michel; brothers, Alfred, Nolan, Henry and Clarence "C.J." Michel. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. She graduated from Terrebonne High School and was a member of the basketball team. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus in Dulac. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank her caregivers; Dawn Barnhill, Yvonne LeBoeuf, Nicole McElroy, Kay Schillage, The staff at Heritage Manor, and Dr. Russell Henry. ======================
