Thomas Joseph Smith Sr., 71, a native and resident of Raceland, LA, passed away 
peacefully on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016. 

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, 
Feb. 20 at Morning Star Baptist Church, 4111 Hwy 308 in Raceland, LA, 

burial to follow in Morning Star Baptist Church cemetery, Raceland. 

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Scarbrough Smith; sons, Thomas J. Smith, 
Jr. and Armond J. Smith (Lalah); daughters, Davita S. Robinson (Jomar), Sandy 
Ellis (Roosevelt) and Joan Randall (Marvin); nine grandchildren; four great-
grandchildren; brother, Lawrence Major (Verna); sisters, Velma Ferrell (James), 
Hilda Hall and Rose Jones. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest S. and Druzella Clay Smith; 
brothers, Ernest, Jr. and Junior Smith, Sr.; sisters, Esther Joseph and Cora 
Grundy. Arrangements entrusted to Jones Funeral Home of Houma.
