He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Susan Wakefield Kearns; two sons, Christopher Paul Gutierrez (Amanda) of New Orleans and Nicholas Stanford Kearns; and one grandchild, Alexandra Joan Gutierrez. He is also survived by his mother, Marie Beary Kearns of Thibodaux, and his brother, Donald Bokenfohr Kearns (Jean Wickersham) of La Jolla, California. Tom, 56, was born in Thibodaux and was a graduate of Nicholls State University and the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. He was a solo practitioner of general dentistry in Metairie for 30 years. His family was displaced by Katrina and relocated to his home town of Thibodaux, but he continued to commute to Metairie to care for his patients. Tom was well loved by his patients and was a caring, skillful, empathetic professional treating all with dignity and respect. He was an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the Tiger Athletic Foundation and was also a selected member of the International Association of Dentist. Tom was extremely athletic. He loved fishing, swimming, running and just about any outdoor activity with his family. He was an avid LSU Tigers fan and routinely hosted his many friends to home games with his season tickets. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to E.D. White Catholic High School or the American Heart Association. Thibodaux Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. ======================
