Mr. Walter Thomas, 82, a native of St. Joseph and resident of Raceland, died on 
Thursday, March 10, 2016. 

A visitation will be held from at 10 a.m. until service time on Friday, March 
18 at Morning Star Baptist church in Raceland. Funeral Services will take place 
at 11 a.m. at the church. 

Burial will follow in Morning Star Baptist church Cemetery in Raceland. 

He is survived by his sons, Gerald (Audrey) Thomas, Garland (Chandra) Thomas, 
and Robert (Jennifer) Smith; daughters, Tekieta Thomas, Zelda Smith and 
companion, Shawn Poindexter, Loretta (Raymond) Scott, Dorothy Thomas, Virginia 
(Demris) Garret, Meosha (Michael) Readom; goddaughter, LaSheka Brown; 20 
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of niece's nephews and 
family. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Thomas; parents, Matilda and 
Frank Baptise; son, Elvis Thomas; sister, Mary Honere; and grandparents, Stella 
and Robert Thomas.
