Lifelong resident of Terrebonne Parish, he was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Houma Education - 1947 Graduate of Terrebonne High School, 1951 - LSU Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, 1955 - Graduate of Texas A&M Veterinary Medicine Profession: Clinical Veterinary Medicine, mixed practice since 1955 Professional Affiliations & Civic Affiliations: LA Veterinary Medical Association, Past President, Veterinarian of the Year, by LVMA, 1992, American Veterinary Medical Association, Louisiana State Board of Veterinary Medicine, member, past president, Terrebonne Parish Cattleman's Association, past President, Louisiana Cattleman's Association, past president, National Cattleman's Association, Louisiana Livestock Sanitary Board, Terrebonne Parish Farm Bureau, member, Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce, Louisiana 4-H Foundation, board member, Elected to the National Honorary Extension Fraternity, Inc. Epsilon Sigma Phi A memorial service will be held on April 15, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm at the First United Methodist Church of Houma's Fellowship Hall. Married to the former Ernestine Smith of Bryan, Texas, Sons - John Walther and wife Carolyn, Dan Walther, Son, Glenn Walther, DVM and wife Monica, Ben Walther, Brother - Roy Walther and wife Mary, Grandchildren - 4, He was preceded in death by Father - Stanley Walther, Mother - Elsie Calhoun Walther.
