Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2016/f1604.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Marshall Curtis Kinchen, Sr., 93, a resident of Thibodaux, passed away April 23, 2016. He was born April 24, 1922 in Ponchatoula to Henry and Rosa Kinchen. Curtis, as his friends and family called him, was a charter member of University Baptist Church where he served through the years in many capacities including deacon and Sunday School teacher. He proudly served his country during World War II, serving in the 8th Air Force in England and the 17th and 82nd Airborne Division in France, Belgium, and Germany. He was a graduate of Ponchatoula High School, Southeastern Louisiana University, Louisiana State University, and The School of Banking of the South. He completed other graduate work at LSU, Indiana University, and Nicholls State University. He taught at Jena High School, Ponchatoula High School, and Nicholls State University where he retired as a full professor and department head and was later named Professor Emeritus. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Geraldine Marie Hollis Kinchen of Thibodaux, son, Marshall "Butch" Kinchen, Jr. of North Carolina, daughter Ginger Young and husband Ross of Dequincy, daughter Sherrye Legleu and husband Alvin of Napoleonville; grandchildren Clay and Scott Kinchen, Stephen Young and wife Lori, Dana George, and Ben George; great grandchildren Ashlie Dunn and husband Corey, Mitchell Kinchen, Addie, Allie, and Jamie Young, and Lilly George; sisters Shirley Hill and husband Julius of Pumpkin Center and Imogene Kitchens and husband Wayne of Hammond; sister-in-law Eleanor Kinchen of Ponchatoula; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dewitt Kinchen and Henry Kinchen, Jr., sisters Mary Hill and Rosa Mae Traylor. He donated his body to the LSU School of Medicine. Memorial service will be Friday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m. at University Baptist Church in Thibodaux with visitation from 9-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to University Baptist Church or Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
