Knight, Sr., a native of Mathews, LA and a resident of Thibodaux, LA, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Thibodaux Funeral Home in Thibodaux, LA. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am at the funeral home followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Thibodaux. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Della Badeaux Knight; son, Guy J. Knight, Jr. and wife Georgina; daughters, Janet Knight, Myra K. Carrasco and husband Michael; brother, Leroy Knight and wife Vella; grandchildren, Chad Ayzienne, James Ayzienne, Cody Knight, Guy Knight III, Kaylynn Knight; great- grandchildren, Jace Ayzienne, A.J. Ayzienne, Brayden Ayzienne. He is preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Marie Adams Knight; brother, Ralph Knight and his wife Ruth; and Baby Brother Edward. Mr. Guy was always a pioneer. In Mathews, he started a grass cutting business at a young age. In Lockport, he was an original member of the newly-formed Future Farmers of America Club. He was also a founding member of the 308 Lafourche Crossing Fire Department, where he held the position of Fire Chief and ultimately a fire truck was named “Mr. Knight” in his honor. At a young age, he joined the U.S. National Guard Reserves for a total of 8 years. He had a love of the land. He was a lifelong sugar cane farmer, including working at Laurel Valley Plantation for many years. He also worked as a field agent for the Lafourche Parish USDA office measuring the farm, garden, and pasture lands. Continuing his love of the land, he later worked as a heavy equipment operator. His bulldozer was one of the highlights of his career. His most beloved time was spent with his family at their crawfish pond, wherein he, his children, and his grandchildren spent quality time together. He never met a stranger and was always open to new adventures which he shared with his family. He traveled to Galveston, TX often to spend “Island Time.” He made all of his family feel extra special and that we all were his favorites! His love for his parents, aunts and uncles, brothers and their families was always heartfelt. Anyone that knew Guy also knew his love of his cigar, which he always had with him! The Knight family would like to thank everyone for their support through the last few years, including the staff at Thibodaux Regional Healthcare, Thibodaux Healthcare, Mr. Ivory Steward, and the Randolph Parro family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thibodaux Funeral Home of Thibodaux, LA. U.S. National Guard ======================
