He was a native and resident of Houma. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29 from 9:00AM until service time at Saint Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00AM at the church. Burial will follow at Terrebonne Memorial. He is survived by his wife, Nella Tomasello Melancon; daughters, Elaine Smith and husband, Danny, Serena Nelson and husband, Hurley; grandchildren, Tanner Magee and wife, Kristen, Courtnee Smith, and Annalyse Nelson; great- grandchildren, Grace, Julia, and Kate Magee; brothers, Ralph and Ronnie Melancon. He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Mabel Bergeron Melancon; sister, Joan Landry. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He worked for McDermott as a superintendent for many years in the Gulf and overseas. He owned Philo's Fisherman's Supply Store. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
