Visiting hours will be observed Wednesday April 13, 2016 at Falgout Funeral Home of Houma from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and resume Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church beginning at 9 a.m. The United Veterans League will conduct full military honors at the church at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. John was the owner of Quality Printing Services of Houma. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for a period of 14 years active and reserve duty. During that time, he was on the original crew of the USS Spiegel Grove (LSP 32) and a plank owner on which he served. He was an honored member of the United Veterans League of Houma, during which time he served as trustee and member of the Honor Guard. He was instrumental in starting the homeless veterans shelter of Terrebonne Parish. He was a wonderful provider for his family, giving all he had to ensure their success in life. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved this wonderful man. John is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Melva Vice Pierce, and his parents, Earl and Lena Pierce. He leaves behind his sons Mike Pierce, Todd Pierce and wife Lilandi; daughter Debbie Baker; grandchildren Samantha, Amy, Kristen, Jennifer, and Katelynn; and 5 great-grandchildren.
