Octavia "Slappy" Betty Miler-Vergin, 78, a native of Philadelphia, PA and a 
resident of Houma, passed away peacefully at 4:53 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 
2016. 

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at the 11:00 a.m. on 
Saturday, April 16 at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, 183 Smith Lane in 
Houma. 

Burial will follow in Southdown Cemetery. 

She is survived by sons, Terry and Aaron (JoAnn) Mulligan; daughters, Tanya 
(Rodrick) Jules and Sharnell (Frank) Sims; sister, Estelle M. (Punchie) Turner; 
twenty five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Kirk Mulligan; grandson, Brandon Scott; 
mother, Frankie Luke Verette; stepfather, Alvin "Shine" Verette; and brother, 
Terrace Miller. 

Arrangements entrusted to Jones Funeral Home of Houma.
