Harison Gary and Katie West Gary. She passed away at 11:55a.m. on Tuesday May 3, 2016 at the age of 89. She was the widow of the late Donald Verret, a reknown civic and community leader. Mrs. Verret, a life long resident of Terrebonne Parish was baptized at an early age by her father, the late Rev. Harrison Gary. She was a faithful servant and maintained her Christian walk until death. Her formal education began in Terrebonne Parish. She graduated from L. B. Landry High School in New Orleans, LA., received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Leland College in Baker, LA and earned a Master's Degree in Education at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. Gloria was also highly skilled and a beloved Beautician, utilizing and enhancing the skills that she had learned at age 14. She received a Master's and Doctorate in Cosmetology. Mrs. Verret began her professional career at age 18. She taught at Greenwood Elementary in Waterproof, LA, Smithridge Elementary, the Naval Base School, Southdown High School and South Terrebonne High. She retired after 37 ears in the Terrebonne Parish School System. She was a member of the Terrebonne Parish Retired Teachers Association. She will have visitation on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 4-8:00p.m. at Community Funeral Home 230 S. Hollywood Rd., Houma, LA 70360. The Life of Gloria Verret will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Beautiful Zion Baptist Church 120 Hialeah Ave., Houma, LA 70363. Her service will be officiated by Rev. G.R. Washington. She will have visitation from 9:00a.m. until funeral time at 11:00a.m. Interment at Deweyville Cemetery. She leaves to cherish her memories, two son, Reginald Wayne Verret of Baton Rouge, LA ad Darrel Jarvis Verret of Dallas, TX. Three daughters, Gloria Ann Verret of Bolton, N.C., Shemada Verret and Audrey Ward Aldridge both of Houma, LA. One sister, Rose Dell Melancon of Humble, TX., one brother-in-law, Raymond Taylor of Houma, LA; one sister-in-law, Helen Verret of Houma, LA; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Verret. Her parents, Rev. Harrison Gary and Mrs. Katie W. Gary. two brothers, James Arthur Gary and Joseph Gary. Two sisters, Rose Gary and Bessie Gary Bernard. Six brothers-in-law, Arthur Verret, Sr., Harold Verret, Sr., Benjamin Rollins, Jr., John Robinson, Sr., Sidney Melancon, and Frederick Bernard. Five sisters- in-law, Leontine V. Robinson, Roberta Verret, Patsy Rollins-Taylor, Myrtle Gary and Thelma Gary. Eight nephews, Joseph Gary, Jr., Melvin Gary, Jr., Raymond Gary, Jr., John Robinson, Jr., Donald "Donald Boy" Robinson, Harold "HJ" Verret,Jr., Benjamin "Buthch" Robinson, Jr., and Bishop Arthur Verret, Jr. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to Community Funeral Home 230 S.
