All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.shtml ============================================================================= LEESE, MARTHA JOSEPHINE JONES Martha Josephine Jones Leese, a native of Canton, Ohio and long-time resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana passed away at home in Huntsville, Alabama with her family on June 21, 2016 at the age of 82. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. (Ret) Donald A. Leese, her mother Emma F. Jones, her father Thomas P. Jones, her sister Mary Katherine Kepler, and her brother Thomas P. Jones. Martha is lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Dorothea "Cookie" Jones of Canton, OH, her daughter Mary Elizabeth Marr of Huntsville, AL, her daughter Suzanne Rametta of LaPlace, LA, her daughter Jane Thompson of Katy, TX, her son Donald A. Leese II of Zachary, LA, her grandchildren Chet Marr, Chris Marr, Morgan Mann, Gabrielle Heyl, Seth Richard, Rebekah Richard, Cade Thompson, Rachel Leese, and Charlotte Leese, and her great grandchildren Addison Marr, Reid Heyl, Kate Heyl and Sadi Heyl. Martha was born in Canton, OH on March 15, 1934. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Nursing and went on to earn a M.S. in Nursing from Louisiana State University. She spent many years teaching in the Nursing Department at Nicholls State University (Thibodaux, LA). She enjoyed history, music, travel, reading, and storytelling, Lake Ozonia in the Adirondack Mountains, watching movies, collecting antiques, performing and volunteering at Thibodaux Playhouse. She spoke and studied several languages such as German, Japanese, Latin, and Chinese. She loved to play bridge with friends and family. he was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Thibodaux, LA. The visitation will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 12200 Bailey Cove Road, Huntsville, AL 35803 on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2:00 pm. The celebration of life will be held following the visitation at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 3:00 pm with Father Paul Pradat officiating. Martha will be buried with her husband Lt. Col. (ret.) Donald A. Leese, Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1255 Canal Blvd, Thibodaux, LA 70301 or St. Thomas Episcopal Church Handbell Choir Fund, 12200 Bailey Cove Road, Huntsville, AL 35803. ======================
