Aaron “Armadillo” James Matherne, 55, died Monday, June 27, 2016 at 5:25 AM. 
He was a native of Raceland and resident of Chackbay.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM at 
Ordoyne Funeral Home in Thibodaux and Friday, July 1 from 9:00AM until service 
time at St. Lawrence the Martyr Church in Kraemer. Mass of Christian Burial 
will begin at 11:00AM at the church. 

Burial will follow in St. Lawrence the Martyr Church cemetery in Kraemer.

He is survived by his wife, Nola Granier Matherne, daughter, Lindsay Matherne, 
son, Aaron Matherne, grandson, Ruston Gaudet, brother, Duane Matherne and wife 
Kasey, sisters, Anita Matherne Bourgeois and husband Brent, Lauren Matherne; 
also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kirlin and LouEmma Matherne, brothers, 
Edward "Pickett" and Carl "Carlo" Matherne.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, vegetable gardening and spending 
time with his grandson. He worked as a pipe fitter at North American Ship 
Building for 25 years.
