He was a native of Dularge and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. until funeral time at Chauvin Funeral Home, with a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Terrebonne Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce Breaux McElroy; son, George McElroy, Jr. and wife, Kathy; daughters, Darlene M. Neal and Melinda McElroy, and Anita Ryals and husband, Malcolm; brothers, John "J.B." McElroy and wife, Earline, Columbus "David" McElroy and wife, Leah, and Hugh "Chukie" McElroy and wife, Lura; sister in law, Cecile McElroy; step grandchildren, Julie Bourg and husband Drew II, and Tara Ryals; step great grandchildren, Adelyn Higginbotham and Wyatt Bourg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thaddeus Mathew Sr. and Leonore Betty Boudreaux McElroy; grandchild, Infant Baby October; Brother, Thaddeus McElroy, Jr.; He was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church. He retired from McDermott after 28. He was a Master Mason and a member of Jerusalem Temple. He enjoyed fishing and going to the camp. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Would like to thank Dr. Russell Henry, Dr. Richard Abben, the staff of TGMC, and the staff of Amedisist Home health for all their love and compassion. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations be made to the Shriner's Hospital Burn Unit. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the McElroy family. ======================
