James Robert Powers, 66, a native of Nashville, TN, former resident of New 
Orleans, LA, and resident of Thibodaux, LA passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 
2016.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Knox Powers; mother-in-law, Ophelia L. Knox; 
sister-in-law, Rose Anne Knox; brother-in-laws, Karl Knox (Kay), Francis Knox 
(Patty), Ronald J. Knox, Gene Knox (Donna), Larry Knox (Tammy); and numerous 
nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann Martin and Robert Emmet 
Powers; sister, Patricia Ann Whytock and brother-in-law John L. Whytock; and 
father-in-law, Paul W. Knox.

He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the Vietnam Conflict. He 
retired after 17 years as a Safety and Environmental Manager with Manson Gulf 
and enjoyed a passion for woodworking.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jody Plaisance, Dr. Francis Robichaux, Dr. 
Roger Steuben, Dr. James Switzer, the nurses and staff of TRMC, Audubon 
Guesthouse, and St. Catherine’s Hospice.
