Visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Samart Funeral Home of Houma from 5pm - 9pm. Then Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 9am - 11am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, at 11am. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Malbrough Schouest; son, Dean Schouest; daughters, Monica Schouest Breaux, JackieBecnel and husband David, and Ann Marie Schouest Hebert; sister, Elizabeth Vaughn; grandchildren, Michael Breaux and wife Sarah, Hannah Becnel, Cassie Becnel, Dalton Becnel, Chandler Hebert, Lacey Hebert, Colby Hebert, Jordan Schouest and Taylor Schouest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson and Selma Schouest; and a sister, Dorothy Schouest. Gerald was a member of the Board of Directors of the Terrebonne Sportsman League, a founding member of the Little Pass Fishing Club, and a member of the Louisiana Tarpon Club. He was an appointed member of the Ellender High School Parent Representative Committee and a member of the Terrebonne Parish School ERC Board. He was also a member and chairman of the Village East Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Terrebonne Parish Planning commission. His final volunteer commitment and his passion for life was with the Coastal Zone Management Board, where he was a not only a member but served as chairman. Gerald’s knowledge and love of our wetlands drove him to organize and participate in several wetland restoration projects for our parish. ======================
