Visitation will be on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands, LA from 9:00 AM until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Catholic Church cemetery in Des Allemands. She is survived by her children, Spencer Candies and wife Lisa, Mynette Zimmer and husband Kenny, Michael Candies and wife Wanda, and Susan Savoie; grandchildren, Troy Majoria, Kasi Candies, Laurie Landry and husband Mike, Lynne Duay and husband Mark, Barret Candies and wife Amy, Blake Candies and wife Stacie, Rhett Savoie and Randi Savoie, 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence (Do Do) Candies; parents, Leon Joseph Somme’ and Henriette Dufrene Somme’; brothers, Bert, Mitch, Kenneth, Norman, Peter and Paul Somme’; sisters, Mildred (Millie) Maricelli and Angelle Pontif; granddaughter, Cory Candies; son-in-law, Oscar Savoie Jr.; daughter-in-law, Bessie Candies Griffin She could often be found working in her yard or relaxing in her chair watching Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune, and Sundays were for church and Saints games. She was most proud of her faith in God and love of her family and also took great pride in contributing homemade candy and crafts to the local Catfish Festival. The family wishes to thank Heart of Hospice of New Orleans, Louisiana and all her caregivers for their loving and compassionate care.
