Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2016/f1607.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Gerald John "Hambone" Pitre, 73, a native and resident of Montegut, passed away on July 6, 2016 after a courageous 5 1/2 year battle with pancreatic cancer. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut on Saturday July 9, 2016 from 8:30am until 11:00am. A rosary will be said at 10:00am. Funeral Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11:00am. Burial will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Montegut. He is survived by his loving and devoted spouse of 51 years, Arlene Stoufflet; sons, Micky J. (Jennifer Ruby) Pitre, Ron L.(Erin LeCompte) Pitre; daughter, Nicole Pitre (Chris) Ruiz; 8 grandchildren, Justin (companion Melanie Keppler), Jonah, Shea, Drew, Molly, and CeCe Pitre, Lexie and Emma Ruiz; brothers, Norval (Elizabeth) , Andrew Jr.(Ernestine), Charles (Elaine); sister, Mona Stoufflet; Sister-in-law, Cheryl (Bernard) Fick. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Pitre Sr. and Edna Prosperie Pitre; his in laws, Emery and Lela "Toute" LeBoeuf Stoufflet; Brother-in-law, Lynn Stoufflet and nephew, Clyde "Bink" Pitre. Gerald was a retired, self-employed welder who enjoyed his work and the people he met. He enjoyed dancing, bike-riding, volleyball, gardening, and baking fig cakes and cookies. Gerald especially valued his time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a dedicated usher at Sacred Heart Church. A special thanks to Haydel Hospice, Dr. Abou-Issa, TGMC, Oschner Hospital, Mary Bird Perkins Center, and all the staffs. Gerald will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
