Jawania Rechelle Rockward, 31. She gained her wings on July 20, 2016 at 
4:35a.m. when God touched her heart and called her to eternity home.

The Life of Jawania Rockward will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 
Community Funeral Home 230 S. Hollywood Rd., Houma, LA 70360. Visitation from 
9:00a.m. until funeral time 11:00a.m. Her service will be officiated by Rev. 
Gilbert Washington, Sr. 

Interment at Southdown Cemetery.

Jawania was born to Deborah Rockward and James Tyler on June 2, 1985 in Houma, 
LA. She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at an early age at New 
Zion Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Kingdom of Connection 
under the Pastor Chris Burrell.

Jawania was a 2004 graduate of Ellender Memorial High School. She enjoyed 
styling hair. She unselfishly gave to others. She loved spending time with her 
family and friends, especially her nephew Jayden.

Jawania is survived by her parents, Deborah Rockward and James Tyler. Five 
sisters, Monchel Rockward and Courtney Smith (Devron) of Houma, LA, Kenya Jones 
(Jeffery), Jimi Tyler of Arizona and Rhonda Prudomme of Texas. One brother, 
Henry Tyler. Eight uncles, Sergeant Major Henry Rockward, Jr., of Adkins, TX., 
Dexter Rockward of Laguna Hills, CA., Kerry Rockward, Charles Rockward and Rev. 
David Rockward, Sr., all of Houma, LA and Tommy Rockward of Rio Rancho, NM, 
Marvin Tyler of NJ and Greg Tyler of CA. One aunt, Vivian Rockward of Houma, 
LA. One godchild, Terrell Carter and a host of others who called her Nanny.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents who reared her, Thelma 
Jenkins Rockward and Henry Rockward, Sr. Her paternal grandparents; one aunt, 
Carolyn Rockward. Three brothers, Josuha Mitchell; Gregory Bruce Mitchell, Jr., 
and Karl Rockward and godfather, Dewayne Parker.

Jawania will be missed dearly by a host of loving family and friends. Her 
smile, kindness and spirit will be in our hearts forever.
