Acklin was a devoted family man, having sacrificed often for them. There was not a person he met that was a stranger for long. He always lit up the room he was in with his personality. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Acklin was a tugboat captain for 35 years, during which time he trained many others to become captains of the waterway. He was looking forward to the day he could retire and spend time with his family but then learned of his final journey he would undertake in November 2014. It is then he learned that he was in the fight of his life against Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), an aggressive brain cancer. He fought courageously throughout the last 21 months. A special Thanks to, Dr. Mark Walker, Paige and staff of Houma Family Practice, the staff at Houma Medical Imaging, Dr. Frank Cullichia and Denise, Dr. Brian Boulmay, the staff at St. Joseph Hospice and all the family and friends who were there to support us during this very difficult journey. All had a very important part during this journey, and we can never express how much the love and support offered meant to us. In lieu of flowers donations to help with expenses. ======================
