He was a native of Lake Arthur, LA and resident of Houma, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation Sunday, August 28, 2016 in the Chapel Dauphine at Chauvin Funeral Home beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Monday, August 29, 2016 at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2 He is survived by sons, Adam Curtis Istre, Jr. and wife Gail Marie Landry Istre of Bakersfield, CA; George Istre and wife Marie B. Istre of Houma, LA, Malcom Lee Istre of Schriever, LA; grandchildren, Adam Istre III of Fort Hood, TX, Andre' Marie Istre of Bakersfield, CA, Shantel Marie Istre Sonier and husband Brad, Travis Istre and wife Jessica Matherne Istre and Gabrielle Joelle Istre Parfait; granddaughter-in-law, Ruth Marie Istre; great-grandchildren, Zoren Garoutte, Paige, Lucas and Caitlin Istre, Alex and Nicholas Sonier, Allie and Ethan Istre and Christian Naomi Istre; great-great grandchild, Hayden Sellows. He was preceded in death by his, Beloved wife Beverly Jane "Skip" Alexander Istre, married 54 wonderful years; parents, Fenwick and Ozite Istre Meaux; brother, Huey Allen Meaux and grandson, Stephen Lee Istre. He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. Adam enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 during WWII and served on the PC487, Yosemite, and Yellowstone in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1947. He reenlisted in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1950. Adam was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who worked very hard being a good provider for his family. He was interested in American History and enjoyed visiting museums, plantations, and historical sites. He enjoyed traveling and meeting people. Two of his hobbies were camping and collecting coins.
